Homosexual Priests In The Church

I am sure if you keep up with current news events in the Church you have no doubt heard the recent news about Msgr. Krzysztof Charamsa, a Polish priest who came out as a practicing homosexual a few days before the Synod of Bishops on the family came to order. He, along with many others who profess to be practicing Catholics, is seeking to try and force the Church to change it's stance on practicing homosexuals in the Church, saying that God loves everyone and that the Church should be ok with those who are practicing homosexuals. Well lets see exactly what the Catechism says about homosexuality.

Chastity and homosexuality

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

It is clear that the Church's stance on homosexuality is, yes we are to love the person and treat them with respect and compassion, but they are to remain chaste and not practice the act. So even though we should shower this priest with compassion, he should not be performing the Sacraments. The Church has stood firm on it's Biblical based beliefs for over 2000 years, these practices are based on Biblical principles and therefore are of God, so how can a man who takes the vows of a priest stand up and preach against the very act that he himself is doing? Well that is how Satan works, he can twist your mind to make you believe that black is really white so it is very important that we study the Scriptures and we pray daily for God's hedge of protection over us so that we can keep the devil at bay.

Now I am sure that some Protestants who have heard of this recent event with this particular priest are saying see the Catholic Church is evil and against the Word of God, but nothing could be farther from the truth. The Church is very clear on it's beliefs on homosexuality but to err is human, and I am sure that if all the skeletons where cleaned out of their denominations closets, they would find a stay or two as well. Just because there are those priests that are sinning against the very Word of God, does not mean that the Catholic Church condones it. When it is brought to light that there is a priest that is a practicing homosexual, the Church is very quick to deal with the situation and it is always dealt with, with love and compassion.
We as members of the One True Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church need to pray for our Religious men and women, because they have a very important job and therefore, I have no doubt that Satan works overtime to try and cause them to fail, but we can and should pray for their protection.
